Guadalajara Fiesta…City of Flowers and Fountains

Our Guadalajara Fiesta Tour is a favorite of travelers and retirees who fall in love with Guadalajara, the pearl of Jalisco. Even though it is Mexico’s second largest .city, it still maintains a provincial atmosphere. Guadalajara is known for the Mexican cowboy costume, the joyful mariachi music, handicrafts, tequila and delicious cuisine. The days are clear and crisp, flowers bloom year round! Retirees find the area a paradise. Who wouldn’t want to retire in the Guadalajara area? As you visit Lake Chapala and picturesque Ajijic, you’ll see why the area is so popular. We added the Tequila Express Train with a full day excursion to Tequila where you learn about this important industry, enjoy good food and drink, and lots of authentic Mexican music. It has been such a success that we are repeating it again and again....and again. Such a fun tour, that many repeat it. It’s a barrel of fun!

DAY 1 - Cross the border into Mexico at Reynosa continuing to San Luis Potosi, the cross roads of Mexico. Overnight at the Hotel Real Plaza in San Luis Potosi.

DAY 2 - Leave for Guadalajara, with a year round spring like climate. Arrive in time for a downtown walking tour visiting the State Capital where you see the dynamic mural painted by Clemente Orozco, the massive cathedral and the Plaza Tapatio. Overnight at the downtown Hotel Fenix in Guadalajara. B

DAY 3 - Shop at the three story market - said to be the largest in Latin America - before departing by train for the included all day tour. Included reserved seating on the Tequila Express to the Hacienda San Jose del Refugio. Mariachis, folkloric dancing and lunch are all included at this beautiful old ex-hacienda still producing tequila of the finest quality. Come ready to have a good time! Overnight at the Hotel Fenix in Guadalajara. B, L

DAY 4 - Drive through the countryside to Chapala nestled on the banks of Lake Chapala and on to picturesque Ajijic- beautifully situated on the shores of the lake. Many Americans and Canadians retire here midst flowers that bloom year round. You can dream you have also retired to this picturesque village as you enjoy a leisurely lunch at a restaurant on the edge of the lake. Return to the city via Tlaquepaque. Mariachis will serenade you at the Parian - the main square where groups of musicians wait to entertain you. Overnight at the Hotel Fenix in Guadalajara. B

DAY 5 - Leave romantic Guadalajara behind as we depart for Zacatecas traveling through Aguascalientes where you have time to shop the many stores in the downtown area. The specialties in Aguascalientes are the hand embroidered blouses, table clothes and baby clothes. After lunch, continue to Zacatecas arriving in time to visit La Bufa with a grand overlook of the city and to explore the cobblestone streets of the downtown area. Overnight at the Hotel Emporio in Zacatecas. B

DAY 6 - Homeward bound through Concepcion de Oro and Saltillo where you can buy Pan de Pulque guaranteed to stay fresh without refrigeration. Continue through Monterrey crossing the border at Reynosa with so many fun filled memories of colonial Guadalajara that you too may want to retire in the Guadalajara/Lake Chapala area! B
