This tour is fantastic! Lush, tropical foliage, spectacular cascades, important archeological sites, museums, the Sir Edward James enigmatic architectural fantasy in the jungle, quaint Indian villages and exotic regional cuisine. Recently a gigantic monolith (Indian stone carving) has been uncovered at the Tamtoc archeological site. The monolith is of such great importance that its discovery will prompt re-writing Mesoamerican history. Hotel Taninul features not only a hot mineral sulfur spring, but also a Temazcal (indigenous purifying steam bath). BRING SWIM WEAR.

DAY 1 - After leaving the Rio Grande Valley, travel to Cuidad Victoria, where we have lunch. Continue through Cuidad Mante and on to Cd. Valles where we spend the next three nights. Watch the scenery change as we travel deeper and deeper into the semi tropical region. Overnight at Hotel Taninul outside Cd. Valles.

DAY 2 - Experience what is known as the Huasteca Region of the State of San Luis Potosi. Visit the main plaza with a great view of the Valles River. Take note of the intricate stonework especially the fountain adorned with parrots whose beaks serve as conduits for the water that flows into the fountain pool. Visit two beautiful waterfalls.... Cascada de Mikos, and Tamasopo.. At lunch time, we will treat you to regional cuisine - a huge tamale-a Zacahuil. Swimming is allowed at Tamasopo. Overnight at the Hotel Taninul. BB, L

DAY 3 - Our first stop will be at nearby Tamtoc to marvel at Mexico’s newest archeological find, Monolith 32, an enormous stone monument 24 x 36 feet. Visit the Gardens of Sir Edward James, the "mad Englishman", who fancied himself an architect. Take a dip in the sulphur pool and build up an appetite for the included cook out. Overnight at the Hotel Taninul. BB, D

DAY 4 - Nobody ever wants to leave this tropical paradise but today we must start home. Perhaps someday you will go back. Stop at La Morita for a mango smoothie or a delectable mango pie. Continue to the border arriving around 7:00pm. BB
