Tour China! Discover magical China on this 12 day escorted tour complete with sightseeing in the fascinating cities of Beijing, Xian, Shanghai and a four night cruise up the legendary Yangtze River. After having covered the high points of China compliment your vacation with an extended optional three night visit to Hong Kong, one of the most dazzling cities in the world.

Day 1 - Day 2
Depart from Houston Intercontinental and arrive in Beijing.

Day 3 - Beijing
Your first day of sightseeing starts with a visit to the largest public square in the world-Tiananmen Square with an unforgettable experience: Kite flying in this vast plaza with the guidance of a master kite flyer. Then enter the sprawling Forbidden City and its Imperial Palace, once the home of China’s great emperors. Enjoy a rickshaw ride through one of Beijings Hutongs, the cities ancient alleys, and meet with a resident family. B, L

Day 4 - Beijing
The Great Wall of China once stretched 4,000 miles across China’s barren northern terrain. Experience the thrill of walking this Great Wall, enjoying the sweeping vistas of this mammoth fortress. Then visit the Ming Tombs, burial site of 13 Chinese emperors and marvel at the impressive hand - carved stone statues. Enjoy a Peking Duck Dinner this evening. B, L, D

Day 5 - Beijing / Yichang
Visit the Pandas at the Beijing Zoo before touring the Summer Palace, a complex of pavilions, temples and galleries set among beautifully landscaped grounds. En route to the airport, you’ll see stunning 2008 Olympic venues. Fly to Yichang to board the deluxe Victoria Katarina for a four night cruise up the legendary Yangtze River. B, L

Day 6 - Cruising / Three Gorges Dam
This morning visit the Three Gorges Dam site, where the Chinese progress toward building the largest dam of its kind in the world, before entering the 5 -stage ship locks of the dam itself. B, L, D

Day 7 - Cruising / Shennong Stream / Three Gorges
Disembark on small boats to journey up Shennong Stream, one of the most scenic of the Yangtze’s tributaries. Our cruise continues through the dramatic Wu George, and Qutang Gorge, the narrowest and most spectacular of the three gorges. B, L, D

Day 8 - Cruising / Fengdu
Today’s excursion explores the famous “Ghost City” of Fengdu. Numerous temples, some dating to the 14th century, feature fantastic carvings and depictions of spirits and beings from the “underworld” of Chinese mythologies. B, L,

Day 9 - Arrive Chongqing / Fly to Xian
A brief tour includes the Panda Hall at the Chongqing Zoo before flying to Xian, the ancient capital of China, and check into your deluxe hotel. B, L

Day 10 - Xian
The Terra Cotta Warriors is China’s most important archaeological site, where thousands of life sized terra-cotta warriors and horses have been uncovered - each amazingly real in detail and buried 2000 years ago. Today we visit this site and have arranged for you to “Touch Antiquity” - an opportunity to handle and examine recently excavated relics. B, L

Day 11 - Xian / Shanghai
Fly to Shanghai and travel from the airport to downtown via the city’s ultra-modern Mag-Lev Train, the worlds fastest. Our deluxe hotel is right on the famous Nanjing Road in the city center. This evening will attend the Acrobatic Show . B

Day 12 - Shanghai
Discover the city’s rich historical legacy on your tour along the Bund, Shanghai’s European-influenced grand boulevard and then explore the Old City Market and lovely Yu Yuan Gardens. B, D

Day 13 - Shanghai/Houston Intercontinental
This part of the tour finishes after breakfast - return on your transpacific flight back to the US or extend your stay with the 3 night add-on to include Hong Kong. B

Day 14 - Hong Kong
The morning begins with a cable car ride up Victoria Peak for panoramic vistas of this one-of-a-kind port city. After a stop at Repulse Bay, enjoy a sampan ride through Aberdeen Fishing Village and then still giving you ample of time to bargain at bustling Stanley Market. B

Day 15 - Hong Kong
A full free day to explore this exciting city. B

Day 16 - Return to USA
Your tour finishes with us after breakfast. B
